Our Foundations Under Attack


“An appeal to arms and the God of hosts is all that is left us. But we shall not fight our battle alone. There is a just God that presides over the destinies of nations. The battle sir, is not of the strong alone. Is life so dear or peace so sweet as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it almighty God. I know not what course others may take, but as for me, give me liberty, or give me death.”


This quote was from Patrick Henry spoken in 1775. The following year he also said, 'It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religion, but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For that reason alone, people of other faiths have been afforded freedom of worship here.'

 Did you know that 52 of the 55 signers of The Declaration of Independence were orthodox, deeply committed Christians? The other three all believed in the Bible as the divine truth, the God of scripture, and His personal intervention.

It is the same congress that formed the American Bible Society. Immediately after creating the Declaration of Independence, the Continental Congress voted to purchase and import 20,000 copies of scripture for the people of this nation.


King David wrote, “In the LORD I put my trust; How can you say to my soul, "Flee as a bird to your mountain"? For look! The wicked bend their bow, They make ready their arrow on the string, That they may shoot secretly at the upright in heart. If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?” – Psalm 11:1-3. Now we are faced with the same problem as David faced. Since 1947 Christianity has been gradually removed from public life and influence.


In 1947 the Supreme Court banished the simple prayer, “'Almighty God, we acknowledge our dependence on Thee. We beg Thy blessings upon us and our parents and our teachers and our country.
Amen.”


In 1963 they ruled that Bible reading in the public schools was unconstitutional saying “portions of the New Testament were read without explanation, they could and have been psychologically harmful to children.”



Although the Bible was quoted 94% of the time by those who wrote the Constitution, somehow in 1965 it was unconstitutional for a student to bow his head in audible prayer for his food!


And then in 1980 the Ten Commandments were outlawed in public schools and other public places. They ruled, “'If the posted copies of the Ten Commandments were to have any effect at all, it would be to induce school children to read them. And if they read them, meditated upon them, and perhaps venerated and observed them, this is not a permissible objective.” It would be terrible in their minds if students actually tried to follow the moral principles enumerated in the Ten Commandments! From their own words, it would appear that their objective is to raise a pagan generation devoid of moral guidelines.

In all this progression of evil, there are some who say, as they did to King David, "Flee as a bird to your mountain". In other words, “keep your faith inside the church walls!” Meanwhile, as the righteous are hidden from society, these ‘wicked’ continue enacting laws and regulations allowing lawlessness forces to destroy the nation God gave us. Moral abominations, such as homosexuality and abortion, are heralded by the media as enlightened growth. False religions such as Islam are allowed to substitute their laws for our national laws that originated from influence of the Bible. And their influence is allowed in the highest levels of our government further weakening our foundations. We need to remember what Patrick Henry, that fierce proponent of liberty, said; 'It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religion, but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For that reason alone, people of other faiths have been afforded freedom of worship here.’  



The media speak in glowing terms of those who ‘come out of the closet’ and declare publically their homosexual deviant lifestyle. I think it is time for Christians to ‘come out of their closets’ and declare publically that they are Christians and that this nation was founded by Christians and for Christians!


Of course, that would mean we not only live our Christian morals but we also demand the same of our elected leaders! It is obvious that Democrats don’t want Christian morals in their party, so, no Christian should vote for a Democrat!


When Hillary Clinton defends her aid, Huma Abedin, for having strong ties to the terrorist group Muslim Brotherhood thus allowing them an inside view of sensitive government plans, even allowing her aid to influence them, she and the party she represents should be voted out of office. When, Sen. John McCain and Rep. Keith Ellison attack those who want to investigate the Muslim Brotherhood’s influence in our government, they should be replaced, no matter what party they are in.


Our elected officials and the appointees they make exercise real power over us. Therefore, we should demand that they hold to a high standard of morality; like telling the truth, not padding their pockets at our expense, and that they defend our Constitution. Certainly, they should not steal from some of us to aid others for the sake of their votes. Yet this is accepted practice in Washington D.C., partly because we have no news media to alert us to what is happening. Our President claims he is making ‘shovel-ready’ jobs in building bridges and roads in the U.S. yet the contracts are being given to Chinese firms which are hiring Chinese workers. We are in danger of our foundations being destroyed and we are certainly surrounded by the wicked. But, God is still on the Throne. James Madison, the primary author of the Constitution of the United States, said this: 'We have staked the whole future of our new nation, not upon the power of government; far from it. We have staked the future of all our political constitutions upon the capacity of each of ourselves to govern ourselves according to the moral principles of the Ten Commandments.' We can pray and then get involved electing officials that will honor the God of the Bible.

Let us remember as King David did, “The Lord is righteous, He loves righteousness; His countenance beholds the upright.” – Psalm 11:7.
